Are you studying at UZH (Bachelor's to doctoral level) and interested in teaching? Maybe you're toying with the idea of becoming a teacher but are still unsure? Then Try Teaching offers you the opportunity to gain your first experience in a classroom without any obligations.
Try Teaching takes advantage of the proximity of the secondary school and university on Irchel campus and offers you the opportunity to experience the teaching profession at first hand. Over the course of three lessons, you will be gradually introduced to teaching - from observing to independently conducting a lesson. The program is deliberately designed to be low-threshold so that you can participate without any prior knowledge.
Observation (1st lesson)
You observe an experienced teacher in class and get to know the class.
This will give you an initial insight into teaching processes, methods and the dynamics in the classroom.
Joint discussion with the teacher: What didactic decisions are made? How can complex material be taught in an understandable way?
Taking over a teaching sequence (2nd lesson)
You hold a short teaching sequence
First interaction with the students: How does the class react? What works well?
Reflection with the teacher after the lesson.
Design your own lesson (3rd lesson)
Now you take over a complete lesson and can implement your own concept.
The teacher accompanies you and gives you feedback afterwards, you reflect together on learnings, challenges and further development.
You can find more information about the process in the information sheet for everyone involved.
Participation is relatively straightforward. This is how you proceed:
